William Pogue

William Pogue was an American astronaut who was born on January 23, 1930, in Oklahoma. Before he became an astronaut, Pogue was an Air Force test pilot. He has flown over 5000 hours in aircraft.

Pogue became an astronaut in 1966. He has spent over 2017 hours in space on one spaceflight. In 1973, Pogue flew aboard Skylab 4. This was the longest American manned mission, lasting 84 days. The crew made observations of the sun and Earth.

Pogue left NASA in 1975.
