Jack Lousma

Jack Lousma is an American astronaut who was born on February 29. 1936, in Michigan. Before he became an astronaut, Lousma was a Marine pilot. He has logged over 4500 hours in several different aircraft.

Lousma became an astronaut in 1966. He has spent over 1608 hours in space on two spaceflights.

Lousma made his first spaceflight as the pilot of Skylab 3 in 1973. This mission was dedicated to medical research and Earth studies. His second spaceflight was made in 1982, on STS-3. This was the third test flight of the newly designed shuttle.
